We have worked as full-time translators since 1978, but have been involved in languages and translation all our lives.
Gabe held executive positions at multinational companies for 16 years and Cathy worked as a language teacher, interpreter, and literary translator in her native Hungary.
As owners and managers of Accurapid Translation Services, both Gabe and Cathy were actively involved in the company's operation as translators and editors. These are a few of the thousands of projects we handled in the past thirty-plus years:
Patent applications, patent specifications, and patent litigations
Power tool manuals
Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
Technical specifications of miscellaneous products
Clinical trials, etc., etc.
As freelance translators, we are flexible with our schedule, and can work at the client's premises if required. We like to discuss the specific requirements of each job and familiarize ourselves with its purpose before starting the work. During the translation process we may consult the client to clarify ambiguous or erroneous passages in the source text. We carefully edit our own and each other's work. When in doubt, we call on a knowledgeable colleague for advice or to edit our translation, as we are often called on to do the same for a fellow translator. We believe that a good translation is the result of cooperation among translator, editor, and client.
We use translation memory tools and Internet resources to enhance our productivity, improve consistency, and ensure that we use up-to-date, industry- and company-specific technical terminology.
